Hi

We were on the Dorset UK coast yesterday and found this embedded in what I think was mud and was wondering what it is. It's about the size of a thumb nail

There might be a slim chance of this being a coprolite. Honestly though, I'm afraid the odds of confirming it are slim.

Some objects similar to this are thought to be essentially natural extrusions of soft sediment through a capping layer.
