"Mandible" in travertine?

This is not my specimen or my picture, I'm posting a link to reddit.

It is just so bizzare I want to here the take of folks here.

 

Someone posted a picture of what they think is a mandible cross section in a travertine flor in their parent's house...  What do you all think?  Genuine?  Fake?  Is it possible?

A couple of dentists comment on the post in the link.  I tend to agree with them.  I also saw a hominid jaw.  But ...wow.

A quick internet search revealed that homind fossils have been found at a travertine quarry in Germany.  I'd like to know where the stone comes from.


It's such weird find, I was wondering if the picture was fake.

The travertine is apparently from Turkey.  Homo erectus fossils have been found in Turkish travertine before.
