JIMMFinsman Posted June 8 Posted June 8 Found this on the beach in Delaware. Skimming Google and the closest I could come to was fire agate. Anyone have a better identification? Thanks!
ynot Posted June 8 Posted June 8 (edited) Agate - yes, fire agate, not likely from there (unless transported by man). Fire agate is found in association with volcanic rocks in Arizona, New Mexico and Mexico. It has a brown base color with a brilliant refraction of light that looks like oil sheen on water. Often found in shades of brown, green and yellow, less commonly in red, blue and purple. Edited June 8 by ynot 3
DPS Ammonite Posted June 8 Posted June 8 (edited) Base color could be fire agate, but, by definition, must have fire. I don’t see any fire. Not seeing any US fire agate localities outside of the SW quarter. https://www.mindat.org/min-7601.html Edited June 8 by DPS Ammonite My goal is to leave no stone or fossil unturned.
