AlexamenosWHG Posted June 8 Posted June 8 Hello friends! So, this seller is, well, selling this pterodactyl fossil. You friends taught me how to identify trilobite fossil casts so I'm here with hopes you can help with this one. Thank you in advance!
DPS Ammonite Posted June 8 Posted June 8 You need much better up close photos. Run away if the seller refuses. 1 My goal is to leave no stone or fossil unturned. See my Arizona Paleontology Guide link The best single resource for Arizona paleontology anywhere.
Fossildude19 Posted June 8 Posted June 8 3 of the exact same poor photos are not enough to make a determination one way or the other. Better pictures including close ups, as well as information on where it was found would be helpful. Keep in mind, you tend to get what you pay for. oilshale Posted June 8 Posted June 8 By the way - this is not a Pterodactyl but a Rhamphorhynchus. 1 Be not ashamed of mistakes and thus make them crimes (Confucius, 551 BC - 479 BC).
Randyw Posted June 8 Posted June 8 I can't say from the pictures but I used to see casts very similar to this in the past. Better pictures are really needed though....
AlexamenosWHG Posted June 10 Author Posted June 10 Unfortunately the seller sold it a few days ago. Didn't have the chance for more photos. Thanks everyone!
