Hi, i wanted to see some opinions of what others think the outline protruding from the surface of this amber might be.

this was found in Baja Mexico, the piece was actually found floating in the surf in northern baja, pacific ocean.

it is for sure amber, and consistent  with the type of cherry amber found in Chiapas Mexico. there are many inclusions in this piece,
a couple of them ,tic, spider, are clear and preserved in  enough detail to positively identify them beyond any doubt.

The amber is not transparent obviously, but its translucent enough, that with strong light shined into

it from one side you can look into it from the opposite side and see some of the inclusions in pretty good quality.

I just wanted to hear the opinions from some in the group. When you look at the attached image, there is obviously something that

can be seen outlined on the surface of the amber, i'm open to hear some of your views on what it could be?

please open the image to get a better view, and disregard the printed words in yellow.

thank you for your replies.

cheers.

I'm not seeing anything morphologically distinct to suggest more than an artifact of the amber. Perhaps more photos may help here.

I agree that more pictures are needed, including some of the entire piece (not zoomed in as much).

ok will do. some photos not so close up and of the whole piece. i understand that its important not to come to any instant conclusions upon just looking at one image.   When you say that you arent seeing anything at all, morphologically that could account for the outline, it brings me back to when i first saw this myself, looking right at that with the amber in hand, i didnt even notice the outline. but when i was looking at the images on my phone and i got to this one, i instantly thought of only one thing, knowing how that didnt really seem to go with being associated wit amber ever, i let the idea go, for a few days that is. then , when i sent the images of some of the inclusions of the tic the spider...ect, this was included, and the person who i sent the images to, didnt have any experience in amber or fossils, but she replied with this image sent back to me and said, it looks like there is a ..... under there? it it was the same thing that i had thought when i looked at the pics. so i was motivated to do a little more research. first i searched the item in question to see if there was any chance that it was ever found in amber before,  (i found that it was not) i became a bit discouraged, still i researched if there was even a type that was  as small as what i was seeing, when i found. that indeed there was, i researched where. they lived and spent their time. i found that  the outline that we had both thought looked like...... did in fact live in and spent its entire life in the branches of trees, and was local to that part of mexico 27 million years ago and still was today. of course i was in no way convinced that this was responsible for the protruding outline. at that time i hadnt even realized that i could see inside if i put a bright light behind against the back side of the amber.

thanks.

so, nobody has any idea what the outlined form  that is protruding from the surface of this amber is?

I'm not seeing anything but the organic shape of the way the amber formed.

I do not believe anything biological caused this shape in the amber.
