Rowboater Posted August 3, 2024 Posted August 3, 2024 Some of my spots have been over-run, so avoided some of the best. Low tide is now in the heat of the day, so breezy beach is preferable to woods. A few oddities for me: couple of broken skate scutes, a dolphin tooth, a seal/ mink/ weasel tooth, two puffer plates. Added a few rough beach teeth, along with a bunch of small gray/ requiem teeth with several miniature makos mixed in (many of you can ID them better than me). About a dozen cow shark (favorites of mine), but nothing special; four or more upper teeth, twisted but missing most of their roots and extra points (someone at a beach brought me a beautiful, perfect symphysial to ID. I can be jealous too! Have to keep plugging away.) 8

Rowboater Posted August 3, 2024 Author Posted August 3, 2024 @Al Dente Thanks for the ID! I'm never sure, don't see many mammalian teeth. @Fossildude19 thanks as always for encouraging me to post. @Fin Lover hopefully you'll find a cow shark symphysial! Here are recent sand tiger teeth (no real big, few colorful ones). I like the tiny ones with cusps but think they usually go through my screen. Good ones to give to kids, encourage them to hunt, so many around and easy to see: 4
S233 Posted August 3, 2024 Posted August 3, 2024 Nice finds, especially the seal tooth, if that's what it turns out to be. Thank you for the consistent collecting reports into Rappahannock Creek. : )
Jeffrey P Posted August 4, 2024 Posted August 4, 2024 Great finds! I especially love your cow sharks and Makos. That seal molar is pretty awesome. Congrats and thanks for sharing
