Hello folks, long time lurker, first time poster here… on my last trip out to the Miocene of Va I came across this funky looking fossil in a freshly fallen block of clay.

I can’t for the life of me figure out what it is, nor can I find any info or similar pictures of it online.

My initial impression would be a coprolite, or maybe remains of a plant?

This layer was deposited in an open marine setting, lacking shells and really only producing bones and teeth.

Any ideas? Mind you I do not believe this to be a rock, I have never seen anything remotely similar out of this formation or any crystalline rock larger than pea gravel…

I'm not seeing anything immediately recognizable in this item.

Can we get pictures of the bottom, and sided of the item?

Also what is the size of this?
