Bronx Bad Luck
Hello all, a friend and I recently did a Penn trip. We went to Montour and Red Hill (we did have proper DoT permits!) The Montour fossil pit was lovely. Easy going. Luckily we have managed to Id our finds from there. A Phacops, a whole athyris, couple of other things. Red Hill is where we need help. As we are new to the site we limited our collecting to the refuse on the road side (we didn’t want to get hurt). We managed to get a couple of hopefuls. But we really are unable to make any type of identifications. As a small word of advice … do not do red hill in a rain storm! Miserable (but worth while) experience! ANY help with ids would be appreciated. not pictured, a small and stunning Eastern Newt eft

Paul1719
Wow! That's a pretty good haul of stuff from the roadside! The current state of our weather may be helping us fossil collectors. And well presented! Unfortunately, difficult to make any calls on most of the bony plate material. It's visceral surface and very fragmentary. #8 certainly looks like a fin radial of either Megalichthys or more likely Hyneria. #12 definitely looks like the end of a tooth, again probably Hyneria. Sorry that's all I got. Here is fin radial we recently found.
Fossildude19
#2 looks like a Hyneria scale, to me. Bronx Bad Luck
Thank you both so much. I must say this is such a cool site! If I may, is there any thoughts on numbers 9, 10, or 11? 11 is the piece we were most certain to be a fossil or some kind.
Bronx Bad Luck
Oh and also any advice on how to glue together some of the broken pieces would also be appreciated!!!
