New Members Jms5v Posted August 19 New Members Share Posted August 19 Found this partially submerged at low tide near the base of a 20-foot cliff on the Rappahannock River, several miles upstream from the mouth of the Chesapeake Bay. I am very new to this but this looks like a bone and not like a fish bone (at least no fish bone I’ve ever seen). Marine mammal? Any insights as to species or anatomy? (Apologies that my pictures are not the greatest.)
Fossildude19
My guess would be that this is a part of a whale/dolphin skull. Maybe someone at the Calvert Marine Museum can say more about it.
