Hello, I obtained these three fossils in the wild and I have a preliminary ID for them, but I am not sure. I hope to hear everyone's opinions.

They all come from the WangShi group, (Late Cretaceous) ZhuCheng city, China.

1,Turtle shell? (10.5*9cm)

The first bone looks like a fragment of a soft-shell turtle carapace section, with the first picture showing the outside-facing side and the second showing the inside. The ridge running across the inside face is one of the "ribs" (pleurals) that would support the carapace.

The second bone looks like the distal end of a crocodilian femur.

  • I found this Informative 1
  • I Agree 1

@hadrosauridae@jpc@ThePhysicist

Could you do me a favor?Help me ID the third one?Thank you!

It doesnt resemble any tooth I have seen before.  My instant reaction is that this is bone, but it really does look like tooth enamel flaking off the exterior.

#2 looks like a femur / humerus or either a crocodilian or turtle.  They have a nearly identical look, so as an isolated bone, it is difficult to distinguish.  Based on the sized of the turtle shell segment shown, this could be turtle.

Thanks for your input.I'm not familiar with Hadrosauridae, I always thought its teeth only had enamel on one side.Under UV light, it can emit enamel fluorescence all around.

Wow, this ID is really shocking.Looking at it again,it does seem to have neural spine.

I watched the videos again... tail bone of something... not a turtle as in my previous msg.   My best guess... final spinal of a little theropod.  Not a common find.

Thank you for your help, it may be the smallest vertebra I have.:headscratch:
