I thought this was Petrified wood, however Ive never seen any petrified wood like this before. I really do not know

Where was this found? State and County would help with ID.

I think this is geologic in origin,  however.

Agreed. Looks like metamorphic rock to me.

This was found in Missoula county Missoula Montana. ThBk you for your consideration about it.
