New Members Jr Stewart Posted August 28 New Members Share Posted August 28 I know it's a whole skull but of what species I'm unsure it was found in Louisville KY close to the Ohio River I'll post the photos I have and if you need anything else just let me know thanks in advance 1st photo is of Left side and top 2nd Bottom 3rd also Bottom 4th is left side and length of skull 5th is of top to which I believe may be the Brain 6th left side and top 7th is Left side The reason for the left side is it is a lot clearer I believe. If you need anything else please let me know. Jr Stewart
Kane
Not a skull, but likely an interesting quartzite chunk. Also no brain as those are mostly composed of water and fat, which does not typically fossilize. 2 6 ...How to Philosophize with a Hammer
Fossildude19
Interesting piece of quartz or quartzite. Not a skull of any kind, unfortunately. No bilateral symmetry. No bone textures. No suture patterns, or skull morphology. This is an interestingly shaped piece of rock. 2 5 Tim - VETERAN SHALE SPLITTER VFOTM --- APRIL - 2015 IPFOTM -- MAY - 2024 _________________________________________________________________________________ "In every walk with nature one receives far more than he seeks." Plantguy
Cool find. Used to live there...and I remember seeing some of the crazy small and sometimes very large geodized quartz crinoid calyxes from across the river in Indiana. I dont see any real obvious structure in this piece like you all have already stated that makes me say crinoid from these images but I ask you all/others...is it possible to have a crinoid so replaced by the quartz that it is unrecognizable as such??
