Unknown Fossilized Skull

Hi everyone, I am new to this group and hope to bring my love of history and fossils to you. With that said, I hope someone can help me ID this rather small fossilized skull I found today along the James River in Chippoke State Park here in Surry VA.

This is referred to as a bonito nose. I think the proper name is mesethmoid bone, from a bonito or similar fish.

As Al Dente said, bonito nose or snout bone. It's a common fossil in the Yorktown Formation. I have hundreds of them from the now closed Lee Creek mine.

Yeah. If I’m not mistaken they look like their modern counterparts…
