Nautiloid

Recommended Posts

Hey yall!

Got out collecting at a couple localities in North-Central New York today, the first of which was a Trenton Group site (not sure which formation) that produces some nice trilobites and echinoderms. Along with some good crinoids, I also pulled this thing which kinda caught my eye. I’m leaning towards cyclocystoid, and a knowledgeable colleague of mine thinks similarly, but I just wanted to post it on the forum to get some more opinions! It’s about 1 cm in diameter.
Cheers!

I'm pretty sure you're right, can't think of anything else that would look like that.

Definitely a cyclocystoid.  The ring looks a lot like the one we just finished describing from Ontario. Cyclocystoides scammaphoris.
