Looking for help with some identifications on material from the Red Hill fossil site in Pennsylvania. I think many of them are fish scale fragments, but I am not sure about the others. Thank you in advance!

Numbering your specimens would make it easier to reply concerning certain items.

@Paul1719

1 and 10 may be infilled burrows.

2, 3, and 9 look like Hyneria scales.

7 is a bone, possibly from a placoderm.

4, 5, and 6 may be Megalichthys scales.

8. looks like oolites, to me. Not sure.

The largest scales look to be Holopythius sp.

Hi, sorry this is late. I was just in PA although not Red Hill and met with Ted Daeschler on Tuesday. Yes, mostly Hyneria scales except #9 is possibly a Rhizodont scale. #7 appears to be the impression of a Groenlandaspid placoderm. The vertical line in the middle being the lateral line canal (impression). and lungfish burrows.

Not sure what happened to the summer but I did get back to the Catskill formation in Pennsylvania last week to help Prof. Dave Broussard (Lycoming Col.) rescue the articulated back of the skull of a new species of Arthrodire placoderm. It's pretty massive and it was in a block in a quarry pinned in by other massive blocks. We were able to free it after cutting with a [battery-powered!] stone saw all four sides and splitting off those parts of the boulder. This is technically Lock Haven Fm but may be redescribed because there are fresh water deposits here also. So this is right at the shoreline of the Late Devonian Catskill delta and the inland sea covering NY.

Here it is in the boulder in the quarry.
