automech
I recently posted in the Fossil trip section about an outing last June. And the strange/new finds made me think of a tooth I found well over 12 years ago in the predawn morning of a cold December day. The temperature was in the low 30’s F. The only light I had was a headlamp. I found it sitting on the rocks at the break of the surf . My biggest MD tooth to date. Front view Rear Front As you can see, it’s pretty beat up. But, if anyone can take a guess that would be great.
Fin Lover
It's pretty worn...I can't tell if it has a bourlette or not. 1 Fin Lover
Randyw
I’m thinking I see the remains of a bourlette. But the rest of the shape doesn’t fit so I could easily be seeing things

Fin Lover
I'm not comfortable making a guess, but someone else may be. 1 Fin Lover
shark57
I am seeing a badly worn cusplet and what appears to be a bourlette. I believe this is an Otodus aksuaticus, a short lived transitional species that was partially serrated. If you found this near the religious place on the Potomac that supports this ID. If you found it farther upriver, it is most likely Otodus obliquus. Edited September 20 by shark57 Typo
automech
@Fin Lover@Randyw Yeah, it's hard to determine if that is a bourlette or not. @shark57 Thank you for suggesting that strange Otodus species. It'll be something I can look into and update everyone.
