Burning Bird on Bolivar Peninsula

Hello,

I'm sorry to dissapoint, but I dont think its a screaming bird. I think this is a case of Pareidolia . I can definetly see the resemblence of one, but those are just structures in the rock. A skull doesnt preserve with soft tissue in this way, it would rather fossilize just with bones and rather be crushed or disarticulated.

But hey, altough this is'nt a bird fossil and just a form of pareidolia, I think that this is a great example, as even I can see really easily the resemblence of one a bird's head. I would keep it, if I had found it ;)

Ha too late, I already told my son that it’s a bird! I’ll just tell him that it’s called a pereidola bird, 😁

Thanks for the reply!

Might I suggest that you point out other such creatures as a way of introducing the concept.

It may not be a bird but it is a nice example of a partial geode!
