New Members Erica Maness Posted October 18, 2024 New Members Posted October 18, 2024 Found along Deep River in North Carolina and thought it had some fossil like characteristics however I am not really experienced in this area. It did however pass the so called lick test so now this really peaked my interest .
Fossildude19 Posted October 18, 2024 Posted October 18, 2024 The "lick test" doesn't prove anything is a fossil, just that something is porous. Lots of rocks can be porous. Please, do yourself a favor, and do not lick rocks. I am not seeing anything fossil like, here. This looks like some sort of limestone, to me. Wait for some other opinions, however. 1 6 Tim - VETERAN SHALE SPLITTER VFOTM --- APRIL - 2015 IPFOTM -- MAY - 2024 _________________________________________________________________________________ "In every walk with nature one receives far more than he seeks." TqB Posted October 18, 2024 Posted October 18, 2024 (edited) I don't think it's fossil. Looks like solution voids in limestone. Edited October 18, 2024 by TqB 2 1 Tarquin
