New Members twindoc Posted October 26, 2024 New Members Posted October 26, 2024 (edited) Found this in NE Ohio on a river bank when I was hiking. I'm a novice and not sure if this is a fossil so provided different views of this for others to review. Thanks for any help identifying what this is. Edited October 26, 2024 by twindoc
Rockwood Posted October 26, 2024 Posted October 26, 2024 I'm not sure what kind of rock to call this. Maybe pebbly limestone, but it doesn't look like a fossil. The shape is the result of weathering/erosion. 1 2
doushantuo Posted October 26, 2024 Posted October 26, 2024 Dale is right, there are no clear indications of biogenicity. The curvature of scalloped erosion surfaces might SUGGEST a biological origin, as pointed out above Keep at it ,BTW, because geology and collecting are worthwile pastimes. Sooner or later you're bound to find something interesting 2
