New Members Dom0716 Posted November 4 New Members Posted November 4 (edited) Hi everybody! I’m hoping I posted this in the right spot and that I can receive some help on this matter. Is this fossil I have fake or genuine? This is my first keichosaurus piece and I can’t tell how to determine its realness. I’m also still very new to collecting fossils and so I’m sure there are others here who know better. I picked it up at a local yard sale thinking it was an absolute great find. The owner said he’s had it for years and isn’t interested in owning it, didn’t know much about it either. Here’s hoping I didn’t waste money. Fossildude19 Posted November 4 Posted November 4 Looks real to me. Typical poor wire wheel/brush prep. 1 Tim - VETERAN SHALE SPLITTER VFOTM --- APRIL - 2015 IPFOTM -- MAY - 2024 _________________________________________________________________________________ "In every walk with nature one receives far more than he seeks." FossilNerd Posted November 4 Posted November 4 I agree with Tim. Real, but bad prep. The good thing about science is that it's true whether or not you believe in it. -Neil deGrasse Tyson Everyone you will ever meet knows something you don't. -Bill Nye (The Science Guy)
rocket Posted November 4 Posted November 4 horrible prep...,, lot of destroyed bones. I would assume some of the ribs and legs are carved or overpainted, but all in all it is a real specimen 1
New Members Dom0716 Posted November 5 Author New Members Posted November 5 Thanks everybody!! So I guess all in all, for the cheap price, it wasn’t too bad of a find! 1 1

Going forward, try to avoid talking about price or dealers. Stick to discussing the fossils. 1 Tim - VETERAN SHALE SPLITTER VFOTM --- APRIL - 2015 IPFOTM -- MAY - 2024 _________________________________________________________________________________ "In every walk with nature one receives far more than he seeks."
