minnbuckeye Posted November 6 Posted November 6 @BenWorrell posted a beautiful ctenacanthiforms fin spine this week. I had the opportunity to hunt the same area that day and came up with a few fish unknowns. I was hoping a knowledgeable forum member can recognize some of these specimens They are Devonian and come from central Iowa. 1. My possible fin spine: 2. Just strange pieces that look potentially identifiable. 3. Finally, what I hope is my best find. Someone at the hunt suggested Dunkleosteus as being likely. It has an obvious V shape at one end, but flattened at the opposite end 2

Xiphactinus Posted November 6 Posted November 6 That last tooth is a Ptychtodus. (Not to be confused with the more common Ptychodus from the Mesozoic) 1
minnbuckeye Posted November 6 Author Posted November 6 @Xiphactinus, thanks for the help. And I thought it was a bone like structure. I can not get the computer to recognize " Ptychtodus". It only brings up "Ptychodus". Do you know of any articles I could go to? Also, which image shows the surface of the tooth.
