M3gal0don_M4n Posted November 9 Posted November 9 (edited) It was supposedly found in the Niobrara Formation, western Kansas. The jaw pieces are 2 3/8" x 1" x 1/2" and 1 3/8" x 1" x 1/2". It comes with teeth, which, if you could identify, it would be great. They are between 5/8' - 7/8'. The sooner I get a reply the better, as it goes tomorrow. It was listed as Mosasaur while a fellow member I ran it by suggested that the jaw seems to have a more fish bone like seem. Edited November 9 by M3gal0don_M4n 1 “Deep words go here”- Me, 3/9/24
Kohler Palaeontology Posted November 9 Posted November 9 I think this might be a Xiphactinus jaw. It closely resembles that. I could be wrong though. "The past always seems better when you look back on it than it did at the time." - Peter Benchley (author of the novel "Jaws" that inspired the 1975 hit film)
Othniel C. Marsh Posted November 9 Posted November 9 The cross sections of some of the teeth do resemble those of X. audax.
