I received this about 20 years ago as a Christmas present.  The person who got it for me did state they bought it from China, and I know that there are lots of fakes that have come from there over the years.  I did try to follow some guides, but being a novice, I was unable to determine much of anything.  I've had a suspicion for a while that it may not be the real deal.  Any input from the community would be greatly appreciated! Thank you

Hi, what I can see is shell structure, good matching of the parts and not much color on it. My vote is: real one, might be with some little restoration, but a collectible item!

Your egg has every appearance of those I have handled. Yes, by all available information here, it's real. Enjoy it, it's an extraordinary object.
