Years ago I stumbled upon this fossil in NC. I forgot about it for a long time and just found it in my collection. I think I know what it is but would love to hear what you all think of it. I've never found one before and thought it was a battery 🔋 for the longest time😄.

Is this a Crinoid fossil?

Yes, it is a piece of the stem of a crinoid.

I second that it is part of a crinoid stem. Although crinoids are animals not plants…

Yes, it is a crinoid stem but I don’t think it is from North Carolina.
