Hi all!

Found this specimen near Compton beach, Isle of Wight, UK, a couple of years ago. My daughter wanted to keep it as she was convinced this is a dinosaur bone. I'm less enthusiastic, but wanted to finally get someone looking at it who may know for sure! It certainly looks bone-shaped... Don't worry, I won't tell her if the news is disappointing ;)

Thanks everyone, I really appreciate it!

Scale on the pictures doesn't show any units, but is in centimeters.

@TqB

Looks like a flint nodule, possibly.

Wait for other opinions, though.

Suggestively shaped rock. As Tim said a flint nodule.

I think there may be a remnant of a fossil or fossils in it. I can't even guess what they may be though.

I think flint as well.  It has a rather bone-ish shape, but none of the texture.  All of the bones I have seen from IOW look very different than this.  I have been to the IOW a few times, but I can't remember if Compton is one of the places where you can expect to find dinosaur bones.

 I agree it's flint. There's possibly a sponge inside, a very frequent occurrence.
