frankh8147 Posted November 13 Posted November 13 Hello all! This was a trip during the summer time that got lost with all the Vincentown Formation work I've been doing but wanted to share! I was invited by some friends to check out a stream where fossils from the Woodbury Formation had been found in the past but hadn't been productive in decades. With pretty low expectations, I went along mostly just to get together with everyone. For most of trip, it went pretty much as I expected - a lot of wading through brown water wishing I had a machete for the overhanging brush but then we came across a small area with concretions at the bottom sticking out from a layer underwater. Long story short, that layer in that small area was loaded with pieces of Placenticeras placenta (which historically, has been a tough find in the Woodbury Formation) and pyrite. There was an unusual lack of other species and overall, I felt that area was strange enough to just keep everything I found together. I was pretty lucky at this location and found a good amount of the pieces; here is my display of finds. 2 7
S233 Posted November 14 Posted November 14 Very nice Frank, thank you for sharing. Hopefully there remains more to be saved and returned to a nice fossil home! : )
