New Members Gio Posted November 24, 2024 New Members Posted November 24, 2024 Good morning, I have purchased this morning a little piece (and a slice of it) of what looks like fossiled wood at a flea market. The seller thought it was coming from Madagascar. Would anyone be able to help with the identification of it? Thank you very much indeed in advance for any information or reference you may have. Kind regards, Gio 1
Thomas.Dodson Posted November 24, 2024 Posted November 24, 2024 Looks like petrified palm wood (Palmoxylon). 1 4

Carl Posted November 26, 2024 Posted November 26, 2024 Agreed: Palmoxylon. But not technically wood, in a botanical sense. Nice fossil!
Yoda Posted November 26, 2024 Posted November 26, 2024 Agree with above - Palmoxylon Typical Madagascan wood has growth rings MotM August 2023 - Eclectic Collector
