Good morning,

 

I have purchased this morning a little piece (and a slice of it) of what looks like fossiled wood at a flea market. The seller thought it was coming from Madagascar. Would anyone be able to help with the identification of it?

Possibly tree

Looks like petrified palm wood (Palmoxylon).

Thank you, that's super interesting. And yes, I see that rod-like structure not rings.

Agreed: Palmoxylon. But not technically wood, in a botanical sense. Nice fossil!

Typical Madagascan wood has growth rings
