Othniel C. Marsh Posted December 1, 2024 Posted December 1, 2024 I have often seen large amphibian teeth from the early Permian of the US, primarily from the Archer City Formation, being sold as those of Eryops megacephalus. These teeth are generally conical or slightly recurved and have faceting near the base. However, Eryops coexisted with a number of other large temnospondyls: Edops craigi comes to mind but I'm sure there are others. So, can Eryops teeth actually be distinguished from those of other large temnospondyls, and if so, how?
jpc Posted December 1, 2024 Posted December 1, 2024 This is a great question and I don't know the answer.
