DurableGrandma Posted December 2, 2024 Posted December 2, 2024 Hi there after reading another post I figured I should post these here to try and figure out what they are. Collected at point a dam
DurableGrandma Posted December 2, 2024 Author Posted December 2, 2024 I believe this what the base of these look like not too sure if they're from the same thing but they have a very similar ridge that runs down one side
DurableGrandma Posted December 2, 2024 Author Posted December 2, 2024 I also find these little nodules and was wondering if they're anything or if it's just a neat rock
DurableGrandma Posted December 2, 2024 Author Posted December 2, 2024 (edited) While I'm at it I may as well ask about some of the teeth that I find if anyone can ID these I'd appreciate it. As well as these mouth plates I was wondering if it was possible to tell what fish they came from. Edited December 3, 2024 by DurableGrandma
Fossildude19 Posted December 3, 2024 Posted December 3, 2024 I took the liberty of cropping and contrasting the first few photos: I wonder if these are pieces of softshell turtle plastron bones, or carapace bones. Size might help us figure these out. DurableGrandma Posted December 3, 2024 Author Posted December 3, 2024 I added some images with measurements on the longer sides cropping/contrasting sure made the images look better haha

Those look very similar I think that might be a match I did do some digging myself based on that and found this post from the forum I supposed drum fish is the common name? Edit: upon posting this I saw the previews of the other images and found the answers to some of my other questions as well haha Edited December 3, 2024 by DurableGrandma 1
FossilDAWG Posted December 3, 2024 Posted December 3, 2024 I suggest the fossils in the first few photos may be Pristis lathami rostral teeth, a type of sawfish. these are not uncommon at the Point A Dam. Don 1 1 2

Al Dente Posted December 3, 2024 Posted December 3, 2024 If you can find this publication, it will help you identify most of your finds. 1
