I’ve been sitting on this unique ammonite+gastropod combo (mortoniceras species+gyrodes) that I found in a local creek where Fort Worth formation and duck creek can be found. I used a dremel 290 with a pointed short tip  to blast off larger chunks, followed by the zoic paleo chisel tip for the more detailed work (I know, not as intended for the product), then a final dip for 7 seconds in a 50/50 muriatic acid and water combo. I coated it with baking soda immediately after for 30 seconds. I wasn’t sure what else to do with the matrix between the ammonite and the gastropod, any ideas?

You could maybe smooth it out with a rotary dremel.  Just be careful that it doesn't catch and hit the ammo or gastropod ;) .

Thanks to both of you for the suggestion! The dremel marks are certainly a distraction.
