connorp Posted December 4, 2024 Posted December 4, 2024 There is no such thing as the Maysville Formation. Maysville is a town in KY with a number of exposures nearby, ranging from the Kope Formation up into the Bellevue Formation. 1

The seller said it was somewhere near Cincinnati, I can look at the card again real quick 😁
connorp Posted December 4, 2024 Posted December 4, 2024 There is no stratigraphic unit named the Maysville Limestone or Maysville Formation in any of the states surrounding Cincinnati.

zaneharrin Posted December 4, 2024 Author Posted December 4, 2024 I found this https://www.journals.uchicago.edu/doi/abs/10.1086/627019
connorp Posted December 5, 2024 Posted December 5, 2024 That paper is 60 years old. There is no Maysville Formation in the current nomenclature. 1

Isotelus2883 Posted December 6, 2024 Posted December 6, 2024 (edited) They are referring to the Maysvillian age. This one looks like the Mt Orab ones though, which would make it the Sunset Mbr of the Arheim Fm which is Richmondian in age. Edit: ArNheim, sorry Edited December 7, 2024 by Isotelus2883 1
