Hello Everyone

I've recently seen an ichthyosaur go up for auction and to me it all looks ok. but was wondering what others thought as these rarely seem to be sold. many fakes have issues with the paddles but this one has the Ulna, radius, and humorous all clear and in good proportion. the number of phalanges also seems to be good in the two rear paddles. The vertebrae are proportional with natural dislocations in a few areas. My main concern then is its a cast of a real fossil but the stone looks varied and without clear repairs. There are also serval mineral deposit veins throughout the matrix that run across the fossil; even in small areas that I would think a forger would not consider. One other thing I noticed was that some bones look a bit muddy and squished together or show signs of dimples like brushstrokes but I believe these could just be poor preservation techniques with an air scribe. Does anyone see any clear signs it is fake?

Thank you.

hard to say how much is real or not. Heavy engraved, but this is the normal technique (when you do not use airbrasive-technics).

Ask the seller what he says. My vote is: could be real with some colorworks, always hard to decide...
