Waitiseearock Posted December 6, 2024 Posted December 6, 2024 I found this on a beach down in the Florida keys. It’s not magnetic, lightweight and it has a very smooth, slippery feel and texture. I looked around for others but this was the only one. Any ideas?
SPrice Posted December 6, 2024 Posted December 6, 2024 Quote Nice beachcombing find. I would go with your tag 'aluminum' . At a guess, a beverage can which was tossed into a beach bonfire and became the molten slag that you now possess. Paint it gold and superglue it to the floor at work and watch how effective "fool's" gold works. 1
Waitiseearock Posted December 6, 2024 Author Posted December 6, 2024 Im leaning towards the aluminum side as well. Only thing that puzzles me is I found something identical in Hawaii. Completely opposite side of the world but exactly the same characteristics. Very odd! I guess people are melting cans all over the place! 1
SPrice Posted December 6, 2024 Posted December 6, 2024 Another guess is it's a piece of slag from a factory, a smelter, a ship or some such. It could even be a piece of something from offshore that burned...like a boat or boat motor...IDK...just guessing really. But is does look like melted aluminum that came from somewhere and arrived on a Keys beach. Maybe from Cuban refugees? 1
