Waitiseearock Posted December 6, 2024 Posted December 6, 2024 All these teeth and shells were found at Indian Rocks beach FL, post hurricane Ian. Can anyone tell me which shark the multi colored (red ,brown and gray) tooth is from? And why they are that color? 1
Fin Lover Posted December 6, 2024 Posted December 6, 2024 Are you able to get a closer photo of it? It's hard to tell from the current pictures. Fin Lover
NoahH Posted December 7, 2024 Posted December 7, 2024 I think the tooth may belong to a shark in the genus Carcharhinus. If I’m not mistaken, the color of the tooth depends on what minerals are in the sediment that it fossilizes in. I hope this helps some! 1

Too worn to speciate, but likely genus Carcharhinus Edited December 7, 2024 by hemipristis 'Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.' George Santayana
