rocknroll Posted December 8, 2024 Posted December 8, 2024 My family has been finding petrified bones on the beach for four generations but no one ever researched exactly what creature died and then had their bones sit in place for millions of years waiting for us to find them. If you could help me with that I'd appreciate it.
Ludwigia Posted December 8, 2024 Posted December 8, 2024 @rocknroll Please number your photos in order to make it easier for the bone experts here to comment on them. There also appear to be numerous snapshots of the same rocks, so please differentiate them for us. Indications of the sizes would also be helpful. Greetings from the Lake of Constance. rocknroll Posted December 8, 2024 Author Posted December 8, 2024 (edited) Ok, I will say though that the contrast between the four different subjects should make it fairly easy to differentiate between them. If you guys don't like repetitive photos from different angles I will work on that. Thank you the other forms I am in like the marble forum or the antique tools forum they're always asking for more photos. Is there a reason why photos from different angles are an issue? It says 93 MB maximum and I believe them very much below that. I don't know I'm just asking questions here. So 93 MB max doesn't matter? ? Edited December 8, 2024 by rocknroll Misspelled

Roger is saying to number the specimens, so that we know which photos are different views of the same specimen. It's OK to have multiple views of the same item, just group them together under a number. Ex. 1a, 1b, 1c, 2a, 2b, 2c,... Etc. All that said, I don't think most of these are bones. 1 Tim - VETERAN SHALE SPLITTER VFOTM --- APRIL - 2015 IPFOTM -- MAY - 2024 _________________________________________________________________________________ "In every walk with nature one receives far more than he seeks." Al Dente Posted December 8, 2024 Posted December 8, 2024 I see bone texture on some of these. I doubt that they can be identified to species but odds are they are from some type of marine mammal. 2
Fin Lover Posted December 8, 2024 Posted December 8, 2024 I agree that some of these show bone texture. If the OP can number the specimens, we can say which ones. Fin Lover

doushantuo Posted December 8, 2024 Posted December 8, 2024 " You guys" prefer a lucid presentation, that's all.
Fossildude19 Posted December 8, 2024 Posted December 8, 2024 @rocknroll Some of these were posted earlier this year, and you were told they were unidentifiable pieces of bone. 1 Tim - VETERAN SHALE SPLITTER VFOTM --- APRIL - 2015 IPFOTM -- MAY - 2024 _________________________________________________________________________________ "In every walk with nature one receives far more than he seeks."
