Just wanted to share this echinoid test from the cretaceous chalk of the uk.

It was found split in two, and so i decided to prep the inside instead of the outside.

Apoligies for bad pictures i took them with a phone.

I'm sure you're happy with your prep work, but it sure would be good if you could make some better photos, since I really can't see much in the way of detail.

Sorry.

I will try to take some better ones.

Unfortunately i only have an ipad or phone to take them with.

I agree with Roger...perhaps if you dabbed water onto the matrix...or...onto the fossil. This might create a contrast ...not sure as I haven't ever experienced UK chalk.

Here's an ammonite in situ with a little water put on it...otherwise it was barely visible like the ones around it.

Try setting the item on a neutral surface.  Having hands in the picture can cause phone cameras to get confused as to what to focus on.

Ok, these may be better.

I have left some chalk inside as it seems fragile and i didnt want to hit the test by accident.

When found it looked very similar to this one, only a cross section visible.
