These Heteromorph ammonites are rare, and without any other exception I know about, are flat. This specimen is not flat. It is turonian, from the britton formation, sciponoceras gracile zone I am currently calling this Allocrioceras sp. I have attached a pic of this specimen, as well as a "normal" allocrioceras. If there is no other candidate, maybe it's a pathology? I have actually had this specimen for a long time, thinking it was just a rare form of the genus, but as time as passed and I've collected a number of Allocrioceras annulatum specimens (they are hard to find), and found them all to be planispiral, save this one specimen. I also wondered if it was distorted during fossilization, but it doesnt have cracks or anything to show that kind of geologic force. Thanks for the comments, Auspex!
