vertman
I realize this is kind of a narrowly focused question but I thought I would reach out through the forum while at the same time researching this question myself. Has anyone ever seen an example of a squid from the Austin Chalk? I am particularly interested in any north Texas examples. I know the Niobrara Chalk of western Kansas contains great examples of squids like Tusoteuthis. I have seen several of these western Kansas examples. But I have never seen any examples from the Austin Chalk although I have to believe they are not uncommon. Or said a better way I have to believe some are occasionally found. I realize Upper Cretaceous squid fossils are not common anywhere really. Any help is appreciated. Edited July 3, 2013 by vertman
