Lafarge Quarry Tooth For Id

This tooth has puzzled me. Thought maybe it was requiem tooth, but the root is so robust. Thicker and more pronounced than I would expect. Has anyone seen an Eocene tooth like this?

It is a lower Carcharhinus tooth. I've been told that there is some Pliocene scattered about in that quarry. I think your tooth is from the Pliocene, possibly a bull or dusky tooth.

Al Dente, George, Greel, Uscedisto,

Yeah, that tooth is too large, thick, and coarsely-serrated for the Middle-Late Eocene. That was the time when Carcharhinus was diverging from its ancestor. You can get them in the limestone quarries but they are smaller with weakly-serrated heels and generally unserrated cusps.

I have a tiger shark tooth from there that has puzzled me because it looks like cuvier (too advanced in size and form for the Eocene) which made me wonder if it had actually been found there. The tooth is dark gray. I haven't heard of other recent-looking teeth so they might be uncommon finds.
