I've seen bony scutes from the Kansas Cretaceous that look kind of like that. I'll see if I can find one that's buried (I think) somewhere in my collection....

Context is critical.

ya kris mine is alot like that so must be a fish scale lol already put it with my xiphactinus jaw piece and vert lol thats three vert fossils i have and probably will only have lol western kansas is so far from wichita

Western Kansas too far from Wichita? I live in Wichita and it doesn't seem too far ;) only 3.5 hours.
