Found this vertebrae in Southeastern Virginia where Pliocene fossils have been found. The ones I have found before have been flat on each end. Any ideas on this one? Thanks for looking.

I hope others will chime in. That "pointy" end is very unusual. It is an AXIS vert just below the atlas. Here is a link to a human AXIS.

This is a mammal vertebrae

Thanks everyone for looking at this vertebrae. I still have a lot of questions about this and hope others will give their opinion.
