Aquaticus Posted May 7, 2014 Posted May 7, 2014 I am hoping that you could help my husband and I, we are looking to go mining for fossils and gems for a anniversary in september and were wondering if anyone knows of any good areas to go that are on and off the beaten path. We are also going to Arkansas as we travel back home. Please anyone's input on this would be greatly appreciated. We are new to all of this but, have been doing this on a amateur level for many years and now that I have found a man who shares my same love of this we would like to find areas that could expand our knowledge as well as experiencing new areas. Thank You, Mary and Brian
Missourian Posted May 7, 2014 Posted May 7, 2014 There are selenite crystals in Kansas (and Oklahoma): http://www.kgs.ku.edu/Extension/redhills/rocks.html I don't know of specific sites, though. For peridot, there's Kilbourne Hole in New Mexico. I've always wanted to go there, but so far, it's been out of the way.... Context is critical.
Aquaticus Posted May 8, 2014 Author Posted May 8, 2014 Thank you so much...will do both...if there are any other places let us know. Thank you
