This is a vertebra I found in some Pleistocene material in the SC lowcountry. Does anyone know what animal this might be from and/or if it is a tail vertebra?

Thanks!

I've no idea what it is from, but it looks more like a metapoidal than a vertebra to me.

It's a mammalian caudal vertebra. Further, respondent sayeth not.

I agree with rich. One end is worn or broken so it looks a bit like a finger bone

Thanks guys. I didn't know if there was any way to narrow it down more than "mammalian"?

With an adequate reference collection and a fair amount of time, there probably is some chance of a better identification.
