Lee Creek Corals

Going through the finds we brought back from the spoil piles at the festival. Cleaned up some of the corals with a toothbrush and soap. My daughter loved picking these up as they were everywhere and fun/easy for her to find. Her and I both love coral and I wanted to share. :)

Nice plate of corals. I can't help but pick them up myself when I'm collecting at the museum

I went to say how lucky you are because you can pick them up all the time... And now I see you're from Tennessee! lol. Did you go to the festival? :)

No I have actually never made it to the festival. It is on my list for next year. I have been to Aurora several times but have never planned my trips to fall on the festival weekend. Maybe if I start planning now I can make it happen. LOL. I was lucky enough to make it in the mine twice while I was in college and it is probably my favorite place I have ever collected. So every time I find myself with in two hours of the museum I make a detour by the museum to dig in the dirt.

We actually made a detour on our way to Florida to go and it was definitely worth it. If we do it again I would like to stay more than one night as the traffic was pretty horrendous with it being a holiday weekend. We had little time and with an extra day could do Green Mill as well. It was a terrible feeling having to drive right past it on the way... :(

Pretty Lissa. Great finds!

These are lovely! Very nice. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks everyone! I'm going to put them in a little basket so Noelle can take them out and look at them when she wants. There's lots of things she's told she can't play with and I doubt she'd do them any harm. Plus she found most of them so technically they are her own special collection. ;)

At one time the old piles in the big lot were loaded with coral. You could find some really large pieces on the edge.

Thanks for the comments. I'm not sure how numerous the corals were before, but there still seemed to be quite a few! It could have been a long walk back to our car if I stopped to pick up every one that we passed in the field. In retrospect I do wish I picked up a few more. I would love to have found a large piece! They all seemed to be about the size of these or smaller though.
