Latest Find From 2013 Indiana Strip Mine Spoil Pile Material

I’m down to the most stubborn nodules from the material that was collected in the summer of 2013 from the Pennsylvanian age strip mine spoil piles in Vigo County Indiana. This weekend I decided to get a little more aggressive with a hammer after the last freeze thaw cycle and managed to get this nodule to pop.I was surprised to find another Acanthotelson stimpsoni at this stage of working through the material that was collected. Just thought I’d share these photos.

Took this photo today also. This year I plan on doing more hiking and less fossil hunting but even while hiking I can't help myself and stopped in a stream bed to do a little fossil hunting on a recent hike. I found this piece down stream from Crawfordsville Indiana in Indian Creek.I believe it's the arms of a Mississippian age crinoid crown. If anyone can give a more specific ID to this piece it would be appreciated. I also considered it being a holdfast.

Thanks.I can be guilty of not commenting on posts that I find interesting on the Forum but it is nice to know that this photo was post worthy.

That is an excellent shrimp.

The crinoid is Agariocrinus americanus

Thanks for the ID.I wasn’t sure if enough of this crinoid had been preserved to make a positive ID.

WOW! That's a killer shrimp! I can't believe I missed it! And the crinoid is sweet too! I'll be in Crawfordsville next weekend hunting those babies. I can't wait! It's been two years since i've been there.
