Had an hour yesterday while I was in Austin and went to Shoal Creek to see if I could have any luck. ShoalCreek lies in the Georgetown Limestone and I hoped to find something new. The place is littered with ilymatogyra. I found what I believe is a neithea texana cast that is really cool and pyritized. Some of the others I have no idea.

...and this that at first I thought was an echinoid. Fun hour. I will try to get back there next time I am here and find some other items.

This looks like a partial whorl of a heteromorph ammonite...possibly plesioturrilites.

could it be a mariella brazoensis? I found one just like this in my local hunting ground in San Marcos, which I'm pretty sure is just Edwards limestone. I'm not sure of the formation. That was the only species I was able to find that looked like what I have...but mine looks JUST like yours! A little more worn though.

sharko, looks like you hit the del rio/mainstreet outcrop along the creek.

I think you are right on with the partial plesioturrelite. I found the sight from the UT Austin website and that is listed as one of the items I might find in this specific location. I would like to go back when I have more time a dig around some more. This is a great area that my gut tells me holds a lot. For an hour I found some fun items for my collection but nothing mind blowing. Thank you so much for the feedback. Any idea what the others could possibly be?
