ttantalo Posted July 28, 2014 Posted July 28, 2014 Found July 28, Lake ontario shoreline, Jordan Station, Ontario Not sure what it is.
Fossildude19 Posted July 28, 2014 Posted July 28, 2014 (edited) Looks like what we would call a "hash plate" - (all kinds of different marine organisms) in cross section on a cobble. The line is likely a crinoid stem fragment. The other lines may be cross sectioned brachiopods or pelecypods. Brewcuse Posted July 28, 2014 Posted July 28, 2014 I went to Lake Ontario last week, here in NY (hello, "neighbor"!) and found dozens of crinoid cobbles like this, but most are circular O shapes. This one is cool because it's "horizontal" and wiggly. The shell cross-sections are common too and come in a variety of interesting shapes and sizes. With the water/glacial erosion, these are good-looking.
