Help Needed - Identification Of Shark Teeth

Recommended Posts

Posted

Hi,

I got these ones from a collection of worldwide zoological items. Sadly the large collection doesn't include collecting data so all I have is the fossils. Here are 3 shark teeth (I think). I guess the big one is Megalodon. I attach photos and on each photo the size of each tooth.

Any info would be highly appreciated.

The origin of the fossils are US dealer for the best of my knowledge (but sadly no collecting data at all).

Thank you very much,

Oz

Yes, your big 11,7 cm tooth is from a Carcharocles/Charcharodon megalodon. Nice one :)

To me, the middle tooth (47 mm) looks like a Carcharocles angustidens.

Here are some "reference pics" so that you can see what i mean:

The first tooth (34 mm) looks like another (but smaller) Charcharocles/Charcharodon megalodon tooth, but i´m unsure (i mostly focus on reptile fossils)

Hope i helped :)

hello,

Indeed, the big tooth and the left one are megs ;). The middle one an angustidens. I'm not sure, but I think these teeth come from South Carolina.
