New Members OniMH Posted January 21, 2015 New Members Posted January 21, 2015 Can anyone tell me what this is a fossil of? I know nothing about it as I recently inherited it. I've done some research and it looks similar (but not the same as) to a cretaceous fish fossil. It's about 12 inches long.
Fossildude19 Posted January 21, 2015 Posted January 21, 2015 (edited) Looks to be a Rhacolepis buccalis from the Cretaceous of Brazil. Decent one, too. Regards, EDIT: More info HERE. Images, HERE. New Members OniMH Posted January 22, 2015 Author New Members Posted January 22, 2015 Thank you. Much appreciated. I see you're from CT. I'm originally from Stamford (now living in Boston, MA) Best Regards, Matthew H
Plax Posted January 22, 2015 Posted January 22, 2015 TFH publications did a book on these brazilian fish a couple of decades ago. Since you live in a major city you should be able to get it in a library
