mikeymig Posted January 29, 2015 Posted January 29, 2015 I wanted to show you all a before and after photo of my new mid century modern display cabinet. It now houses my Upper Devonian fossils from the Naples fauna of NY. Most of my collection looks very Victorian the way I display it. However I couldnt pass up this display case I found at a local antique store on Sunday for $100. Thanks, Mikey Many times I've wondered how much there is to know. led zeppelin
Raggedy Man Posted January 29, 2015 Posted January 29, 2015 You Sir, have some really amazing specimens... I'm a betting man and I'd bet what's seen isn't nearly as impressive as what isn't.. Oh...pretty sweet display case and the price was ridiculous Lol! Thanks for the share. ...I'm back.
Ludwigia Posted January 29, 2015 Posted January 29, 2015 You got yourself a good bargain there! Hopefully the glass shelves are sturdy enough. I had a bit of bad luck with one lately. Unfortunately it was at the top of the cabinat and took the rest of them with it. Greetings from the Lake of Constance. Roger http://www.steinkern.de/
amour 25 Posted January 29, 2015 Posted January 29, 2015 Nice Display case and some kick butt fish you have there. Could not build it cheaper then that and with glass no way. Nice fish. All collected by you? Really a nice setup. Thanks for sharing it. Jeff Jeff
Malcolmt Posted January 29, 2015 Posted January 29, 2015 (edited) An amazing find... I really have to do something one of these days... just way to many things hidden away in boxes never to see the light of day... Edited January 29, 2015 by Malcolmt
Jeffrey P Posted January 30, 2015 Posted January 30, 2015 That's a wonderful display case and a wonderful deal. Hope to see it and your collection in person some day. Congrats.
Scylla Posted January 30, 2015 Posted January 30, 2015 I really like how you fixed up the cabinet. The after picture is so much nicer than the before one.
Mediospirifer Posted January 30, 2015 Posted January 30, 2015 Very nice! I wouldn't pass up a case like that either, if I found it.
mikeymig Posted January 30, 2015 Author Posted January 30, 2015 Thank you everyone for the kind comments. I love finding a bargin and in doing so have to brag a little cuz Im so darn proud of myself. Jeff - The fish plate came from my good friend Jim Tynsky. I told him I wanted a medium sized plate with as many different species of fish on it but it had to have a real nice Phareodus. It took a couple of years before he found one like this for me. Thanks, Mikey Many times I've wondered how much there is to know. led zeppelin
